Summer Bible Camp - June 5 - June 11, 2011

Summer Bible Camp gives you the pleasure of enjoying heavenly bliss in the lap of God’s created beautiful nature. The camp takes in about 50 candidates and gives them a week’s most incredible experience. The campers get to learn some basics of the Bible, Gospel hymns, make friends and do something good over the summer vacation. Along with these, the camp provides hiking, sight-seeing, games, different competitions and Christian Movies.

The whole point of the camp is to provide a refreshing and reviving break from the monotony of daily life and bring people closer to God.

It is a holistic experience in a unique way.

Poetry Camp - 25th May - 31st May 2011

Poetry camp is a camp for aspiring poets. It is not necessary to be a poet to attend the camp. The only thing required is the aspiration to be one. Poetry is one of the most refined form of expressing one’s thoughts, feelings and emotions. This camp enables aspiring poets to enkindle the poet in themselves and learn the various forms and aspects of poetry. According to me, every individual who has the capacity to express is a poet, he just needs to discover that poet in himself and let the melody flow.

Poetry Camp consists of a weeklong fun-packed holiday with poetic exercises like visualization, thought painting, peer-review, counselling, theory, etc. along with sight-seeing and other fun activities.

WHAT MAKES CAMPING SPECIAL??

When I first set foot on the train to New Jalpaiguri, a town in West Bengal, I had every reason to turn back. I was alone; I was new to the place; I was unfamiliar with the people I was about to meet; and most important and scary of all, I had to spend 12 days there before I could return. Earlier, the unfamiliarity terrain was mostly shunned by me. I was kind of a shy person who was dead afraid to try anything new. Like most people I was most comfortable in my comfortable zone and I rarely ventured out of it. I was predictable. If you barely knew me; had dinner with me just once and had to order dinner for me some other time, you could order the same menu and be 100% sure that you have scored well. Even now I am stuck with the same things but yes, it’s after much experimentation. I still keep experimenting and find new things pretty interesting, adventurous and edifying.

My favourite colour, when it comes to t-shirts, is grey but I know that when you have a small art with black on it, it’s awesome. My favourite ice-cream flavour is chocolate but if it’s mixed with a little vanilla and assorted fruits, it is incomparable. My saviour food is omelette but if you toss in some green peas, chopped tomatoes, sliced capsicum and French beans and top it with grated cheese, you can have one of the best delicacies. Plain is good but something extra is always a better choice.

After the 12 days at Kalimpong, I started viewing things differently. What makes camping special? If you plan on just a vacation, it’s like plain chocolate. But if you plan on being part of a camp, it’s something extra, like the mixing with vanilla and assorted fruits. Camping is not just an experience but a wholesome experience. During my 12 day stay at Kalimpong, I did not just visit the Dello hills, more than that I learnt how to be myself. I made new friends from different parts of the country, played games together, visited places, did group studies... It was a learning experience and there wasn’t a moment I got bored. When I met new people I knew I could be what I wanted to be, different and better. I did not have to be scared that they will make fun of me or be surprised. They accepted me the way I was and I was encouraged to be this better person when I returned from the camp.

It’s always best to be different because that’s how God intended you to be – UNIQUE.

SUMMER CAMP - 15 May - 21 May, 2011

Summer Camps are one of the coolest camps offered by the organization. These camps constitute about one week of adventure and fun packed stay in the campsite. The average uptake is about 50 candidates per batch from different schools. There are a lot of activities that are not just fun but they also focus on character building. Participants go through trekking, games and lot of competitions along with sight-seeing. So, it’s not just vacation for them but a wholesome experience. All the activities try to inculcate in the candidates a sense of responsibility, team-spirit and improved soft-skills.

The most striking features of the camp include Sight-seeing, Games, Trekking, different competitions, Quiz, Sports Events, Talent Night Show and many more.

SUMMER SEASON 1 OF CAMPS AT LEIMAKHONG

When I was suggested that I should host the SUMMER SEASON 1 of Camps 2011 at Manipur for “SERAPHIM ADVENTURE & CAMPS”, frankly speaking I had mixed feelings. I love the northeast India, no doubt about it. First, the summers are lovely with greenery and amiable climate. Second, the pollution-free and beautiful hills and valleys are very reposeful. And finally, the people are so warm and hospitable and I have lots of friends there.

However, my ‘mixed feelings’ were turned to happy anticipation, when the first batch of campers for SUMMER SEASON 1 of Camps would arrive and love the place just the way I did it, as my flight was landing in Imphal.

The land-view of the serene and quiet campsite proved to be as appealing and luring as the sky-view, with long meandering roads lined with tall pine trees, the view of stretches of green hills and valleys all around, and all I could do was praise God for taking me to this beautiful place.

The place is famous for its natural beauty and is especially appealing in the summer months, when it is fresh after the showers, greener and refreshing. Amongst the other attractions are the famous Loktak Lake, the Kangla, the Leimaram Waterfalls, Orchidarium, Ecological Parks at Nongmeiching and Kakching, etc.

The Birth of a DREAM and an ORGANIZATION

My heart was beating madly as the days for my CMTC Kalimpong 2007 (A Christian Camp hosted by UNION OF EVANGELICAL STUDENTS OF INDIA) drew near. I was scared and at the same time excited to be on the camp. It was my first camp. Earlier I had been on various excursions and trips with friends I knew but this was much different.

I was about to meet new people from different places and I didn't know how everything would go. Questions like 'whether I would be able to get along with them and become friends' kept hovering in my mind. However, once I set foot on the cool and captivating hilly town of Kalimpong, my anticipations were turned to a beautiful reality.
I met so many wonderful people and got so much to learn from them. I learnt about leadership, adjustments, responsibilities... and the list is in-exhaustive.
Life in a camp is an experience worth cherishing through out your life because it will never leave you. You make friends but that's not just it... you learn the greater virtues of life through camps.
From then on a DREAM got rooted in me that I want to share this beautiful and inexplicable experience with the children throughout India and later maybe throughout the world.

After having cherished and nourished my DREAM for nearly four long years, I feel much strengthened and confident to bring to you, your very own unique holiday experience.
